Hyster Forklift Training Regina - Hyster is an industry leader in the materials handling industry that has been in business for more than eighty years. However, it started as a manufacturer of lifting machinery and winches. Most of its production was concentrated in the northwest United States and dealt mostly with the wood and logging industry. A couple years after the first forklift trucks were invented Hyster became synonymous with quality manufacturing. Over the last 80 years Hyster has continued to get bigger and grow its product line. The growth of its products coupled with its wish to stay service oriented has allowed Hyster to develop into the worldwide player it is in the present day.

Hyster experienced major improvements through the 1940's and 1960's. In 1946, Hyster opened a plant in Illinois that was exclusively devoted to bulk producing trucks. This allowed Hyster to force its expenses down and, at the same time, offer a better quality product at industry competitive rates. In 1952, Hyster began its first foray in to the international production market through opening its first plant in the Netherlands. The Netherlands plant was originally designed to produce two products: Hyster 40" and the Karry Kranes.

The forever varying needs of Hyster users and Hyster's talent to continue to innovate led to rapid development throughout the 50's and sixties. They began constructing container handlers in the United states in 1959 to meet with the ever expanding demand for transportation goods. In 1966, Hyster developed a process for enabling a lift truck to go both ahead and backwards using the same pedal. This pedal was known as the Monotrol pedal, which revolutionized the industry. Later in the decade Hyster opened a research and development centre in Oregon that was focused on improving the design and functionality of lift trucks. The centre is still one of the world's top testing facilities in the materials handling industry.

The 1960's was characterized by rapid growth throughout the entire materials handling industry. Due to this, Hyster considered it necessary to refocus its strategy towards these developing mass markets. Hence, in 1970, the XL design philosophy was born. The XL design philosophy allowed Hyster to afford better quality at a more inexpensive price. A further expansion in production capabilities was necessitated by the need in Europe for Internal Combustion Engine Trucks. To fill this hole, a plant in Craigavon, Ireland was opened in 1980. Through the 80's Hyster continued to focus on developing industry leading forklifts. The Hyster company name was known throughout the globe for its commitment towards excellence. This attention to excellence produced numerous suitors for the business. In 1989, a large multinational company based in Ohio called NACCO Industries bought Hyster and started an aggressive expansion plan. NACCO swiftly changed the XL philosophy with a more driver oriented truck that concentrated on operator comfort, which is known as the XM generation of lift trucks.

With the global shift towards just-in-time management procedures, Hyster has been required to keep up with the trends through investment in new and diverse technologies. Acquisitions and investments were made in the United States, Italy, Netherlands, and various other places throughout the globe. All of these investments have made Hyster a world leader in the forklift market. In 2009, Hyster celebrated its 80th anniversary as an industry leader of materials handling equipment, which consists of more than 300 assorted versions of forklift trucks.
